SEOUL, April 14 (Korea Bizwire) — As flight travel is making a comeback, more people are choosing to fly longer distances rather than visiting close, neighboring countries for travel.
Major online shopping malls Gmarket and Auction studied big data related to overseas travel package sales in the last 30 days (March 11 to April 10), in which sales of international flight tickets have jumped ninefold and local tour packages were up more than eightfold.
Sorted by destination, most travelers flew to Cambodia, Los Angeles and Hawaii, all of which take more than 6 hours of flight.
In the pre-pandemic era in 2019, most travelers flew to Osaka, Danang and Fukuoka, all of which can be reached in under 6 hours of flight.
The primary consumer trend has also changed in that men bought more plane tickets than women this year, going from 43 percent in 2019 to 51 percent. Travelers in their 50s accounted for 32 percent of the total, growing from three years ago (24 percent).
