SEOUL, May 26 (Korea Bizwire) — The non-fungible token (NFT) artwork realized on LG Display Co.’s transparent OLED screen fetched a huge bid, drawing significant attention.
The South Korean display panel maker said Wednesday the NFT art collection “An Important Memory for Humanity” created in collaboration with Refik Anadol, a Turkish media arts designer and director, was auctioned off for US$6.2 million.
Using an OLED screen as a digital canvas, the NFT artwork was created through an artificial intelligence (AI) interpretation of the data collected from the world’s first all-civilian space flight mission “Inspiration 4.”
The successful bidder will be given the NFT artwork contained in the LG Display’s transparent OLED.
Following the will of the artist, 30 percent of the proceeds will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in New York.
