SEOUL, Aug. 11 (Korea Bizwire) — SSG.com, the online mall arm of South Korean retail giant Shinsegae Group, ranked first in terms of per-transaction settlement amount among South Korea’s major e-commerce platforms, a credit rating firm said Wednesday.
NICE Investors Service analyzed the average settlement amount per transaction at major e-commerce platforms for the period from January 2018 to April 2022, with SSG.com ranking first with an average transaction between 70,000-80,000 won (US$53.86-61.56).
For SSG.com, the average settlement amount showed an upward trend particularly in the latter half of each year, affected by the sales of year-end holiday gifts and high-priced winter apparel.
By item, luxury items and home electronics showed the highest per-transaction settlement amount. The average per-transaction settlement amount at non-food e-commerce platforms was higher than that of food-specialized e-commerce platforms.
Among high-ranking e-commerce platforms, Naver’s per-transaction settlement amount gradually increased from the mid-40,000 won range to the 50,000 won level from January 2018 to April 2022, while that of Coupang declined from the 40,000 won level to the 30,000 won level.
