HANNOVER, Germany, Feb. 06 (Korea Bizwire) – Leaving behind house and home, friends and work and instead travelling around the world for 6 months on a motorcycle and doing good: What sounds like a dream and for most remains one for life, Anja Meier, a biology graduate, and Hauke Glässing, an engineer in motorcycle development, are making a reality as part of a “sabbatical”.
“Singa to Minga” – from Singapore to Munich for a good cause
The two-wheeled adventure started on the 2nd of February: The couple wants to travel 23,000 kilometres on their bikes from Singapore, across Asia to their home town of Munich (or as the Bavarians say: “Minga”).
The route will take the two adventurers from the remotest peninsular in Asia through a variety of cultural and geographical diversity:
“We have a precisely detailed Excel list, in which it is listed exactly where we plan to be and when and we are very sure that this list will be discarded by the second week of our journey at the latest.” (Quote Anja / Hauke )
Both have planned their current route in a way that they can stop at various “SOS Children’s Villages” along the way in order to provide them with strong support locally. Updates on their Facebook travel blog: www.facebook.com/singatominga
6 months on a motorcycle: The right equipment is essential
With a freshly serviced BMW F700 GS and a BMW F800 GS, it got going on February 2, 2015. “Those who have thoroughly checked their motorcycle are already one step ahead when it comes to planning a trip” says Andreas Faulstich, Head of the Motorcycle Department at Delticom, “however equally important for the success of such a trip are the few, very safety-relevant centimetres that come into contact with the road: the right motorcycle tyres. Just before long trips we recommend a fresh set of tyres for extra grip.”
In addition to widely fluctuating temperatures, different road conditions and terrain are a challenge not to be underestimated on the route. As a reliable tyre partner, the two motorcycle travellers have therefore chosen the internationally operating Delticom with their motorcycle tyre online shop MotorradreifenDirekt.de and the motorcycle tyres Heidenau K60 Scout, of which they will receive a new pair in Thailand – powered by Delticom:
“Thus we have the possibility to be sent any tyre model in even the most remote places. MotorradreifenDirekt.de is part of a global company, and it was especially important for us to get the right high quality tyres.” (quote Anja/Hauke)
Special motorcycle clothing should also help when coping with the sometimes enormous differences in temperature. Ultimately it comes down to withstanding the freezing cold of the Himalayas as well as the heat of Iran.
On August 3, 2015, the sabbatical ends for Anja and Hauke.
