New Tree-Hugging World Record Attempt in Pocheon, Korea

SEOUL, March 18 (Korea Bizwire) – The Korea National Arboretum (KNA) is set to break the current tree-hugging world record of 936 people set in Portland, U.S., with a Tree Hug event that will be held at the KNA in Pocheon on March 21. The KNA is conservatively expecting a tree-hugging record of 1,200 people, as 1,500 individuals have submitted entry applications so far.

All participants must hold onto the tree for more than one minute to be recognized as a group and break the official world record. However, the KNA said that, due to the enormous size of the group, participants would have to hug trees for at least 10 minutes, to ensure that seconds are counted exactly. The record attempt will take place even in the event of rain.
