Oxfam Trailwalker Korea Raises Over 230 Million Won for Global Aid Efforts

INJE, South Korea, May 27 (Korea Bizwire)The 2025 Oxfam Trailwalker Korea, a global charity endurance event co-hosted by Oxfam Korea and Inje County in Gangwon Province, concluded successfully over the weekend, raising more than 235 million won (approximately US$174,000) in donations.

Now in its eighth year, the event drew 820 participants across 205 teams who took on 100km, 50km, and 25km routes through Inje’s scenic mountainous trails, including Gombaeryeong, Hangyeryeong, and Yongneup Village. The challenge began at 6 a.m. on May 24 at Jindong Branch of Girin Elementary School.

Participants ranged widely in age and nationality, with entrants from the U.S., U.K., Australia, Sweden, Brazil, Uzbekistan, and more. The youngest participant was a 15-year-old middle school student, while the oldest was 71.

Of the teams, 132 completed the full course with all members finishing, while 76 percent of all individuals — 625 participants — successfully crossed the finish line.

The overall winning team, “Save The,” composed of trail runners advocating environmental awareness, completed the 100km course in 15 hours and 55 seconds. “EverRun-Ace,” returning for its second year, won the men’s category with a time of 19:51:09, while first-time entrant “Cloud Nine” led the women’s category at 20:04:24.

A highlight of the event was the inspiring finish of the team “Unstoppable Challenge,” featuring Kim Mi-soon, who is blind, and her husband Kim Hyo-geun as her guide. The couple has completed every edition of the Korean Trailwalker since its debut in 2017 and currently serve as event ambassadors.

All proceeds from the event will support Oxfam’s global humanitarian work, including clean water access, hygiene, education, and livelihood programs in communities affected by poverty.
