GOYANG, Nov.30 (Korea Bizwire) – Officials from Goyang City announced that they have installed ‘Stop Smoking Bells’ in non-smoking areas such as parks, libraries and bus stops.
When one presses a ‘Stop Smoking Bell’, a recorded announcement is played, informing the smoker that the location is a non-smoking area, and asking them to stop smoking.
Twenty eight ‘Stop Smoking Bells’ were installed in 12 places, including the square in front of Hwajeong Station, Hwajeong culture street, the bus stop in front of Deokyang-gu Office, three libraries and four parks in the area.
Authorities explain that they installed the ‘Stop Smoking Bells’ as many individuals still smoke in non-smoking areas. Those who smoke in non-smoking areas face fines of 50,000 won.
