SEOUL, Dec.1 (Korea Bizwire)‘Jang Young-sil’, the drama based on the life of a Korean historic figure that aired on KBS 1TV, will be exported to Hong Kong. The drama is also attracting attention as it will be starring Song Il-guk, the Korean actor famous for his appearance in the drama ‘Jumong’ and ‘Superman comes back’.

KBS officials announced that they have finalized the signing of a contract with a company in Hong Kong to export the historical drama.

The network explained that it was the first time a historical drama was exported to Hong Kong, as it was a territory that usually preferred Korean miniseries dramas. Officials added that the selling price per episode was almost the equivalent of a mid-level miniseries, which is decent since miniseries are usually sold at a higher price compared to dramas of different genres.

The 24 episode drama will air in January 2016. It portrays the life of the historic figure Jang Young-sil, who started from the bottom as a slave but made 15th century Korean science reach the top level in the world as he met King Sejong, who is also famous for creating the Korean alphabet.

Song Il-gook will play the hero, Jang Young-sil, with actors such as Kim Sang-gyung (as Sejong), Kim Young-chul (as Taejong) and Park Sun-young (as princess Sohyun) taking on supporting roles.
