GOYANG, May 17 (Korea Bizwire) – These monkeys are adorable – but their status is uncertain as they entered Korea illicitly.

A South Korean smuggler has been apprehended after trying to smuggle common marmosets into the country.

Native only to east-central Brazil, common marmosets are very small monkeys with relatively long tails. Police say a common marmoset could sell for up to 7.5 million won (US$6,390) as a pet in South Korea.

The smuggler, referred to only as Jeon, is accused of smuggling two common marmosets from Thailand on May 11 for illegal domestic distribution.
