SEOUL, May 7 (Korea Bizwire) — A uniquely designed farm on the southern resort island of Jeju will be designated as a cultural heritage.
The Cultural Heritage Administration (CHA) announced that the Ctesiphon-style housing at Jeju’s St. Isidore Farm will be designated as a national cultural heritage.
St. Isidore Farm, located in the mountainous region on the west of Jeju Island, was first built by the late Father Patrick James Mcglinchey, who came to Jeju Island in 1954 and passed away in 2018.
St. Isidore Farm is named after a Catholic saint from Spain.
Two Ctesiphon-style homes will be registered as cultural heritages, both of which were built in 1961.
These homes were built first by creating a wooden arch-shaped frame, onto which cement mortar was applied, and bricks were stacked up from within to create walls and the ceiling.
There are currently 24 Ctesiphon-style buildings in the island alone.
