NAMYANGJU, Aug. 22 (Korea Bizwire) – The city of Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, said in a public statement that it had identified geographic locations at varying risk of outbreaks of disease through the application of big data technology.
The city government charted a map of the city by combing through 2,072 civilian reports of disease carrying insects and requests for preventative measures over the past five years.
The map shows yearly, seasonal and regional areas where the probability of an outbreak is highest.
Namyangju announced that the map will serve as a tool to both prevent and rapidly contain the growth of diseases.
