SEOUL, Aug. 22 (Korea Bizwire) – South Korea will provide $200,000 worth of humanitarian aid to Nepal, which was hit hard by recent heavy rains and floods, the foreign ministry said Tuesday.
The heavy rains that started late last week and the resulting floods and mudslides in Nepal have killed more than 130 people so far with some 30 others unaccounted for. About 9,850 houses have been damaged, according to media reports.
The ministry said it expected the support to help Nepal recover from the devastation caused by the latest natural disaster that comes at a time when the country is still recovering from the havoc a major earthquake wrought in April 2015.
