SEOUL, Sept. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — The fashion industry expects this year’s fall-winter season to feature more traditional and timeless styles instead of bold and extravagant designs.

This shift is influenced by the growing popularity of a more vintage look in fashion, often referred to as “quiet luxury”, with a focus on subtle elegance rather than flashy colors, patterns, or prominent brand logos.

Major fashion companies like Shinsegae International predict that the upcoming fall-winter season will be dominated by classic and modest fashion choices, as the flashy Y2K style that has been prominent in recent years starts to fade away.

If you take a look at the latest arrivals for this season, you’ll notice a shift towards more subdued colors like beige, brown, black, and white. Intricate patterns and embellishments are also becoming less common.

Furthermore, traditional fall staples like leather, knit, and tweed jackets, as well as trench coats, are making a comeback. A spokesperson from Shinsegae International noted, “We’re seeing a resurgence of the fundamental pieces we associate with fall, and women’s fashion brands are putting a new twist on basics like beige trench coats, black leather jackets, and brown sweaters.”

Industry experts suggest that economic factors, including a recession and shifting consumer habits in the wake of COVID-19, have also contributed to this return to classic fashion.

As post-pandemic spending slowed and economic uncertainty grew, people became more cautious in their consumption choices, leaning towards simple, timeless clothing over trendy and flashy alternatives.
