SEOUL, Aug. 13 (Korea Bizwire) — “Do Not Eat Canine Meat!” An alliance of animal protection groups held a rally in front of Moran Market in Seongnam, famous as a canine meat market, on the occasion of malbok, the last of three boknals, the hottest days in Korea. Koreans eat dog meat on boknal to overcome the hot summer weather.
The animal rights advocates held pickets saying, “Stop It. We oppose dog slaughter,” “Dogs are same living animals like humans” and “Vegetables on Boknal,” and asked the city government to ban dog slaughtering at the market.
