SEOUL, May 22 (Korea Bizwire) — Videos featuring audio of specific frequencies that purportedly “grant wishes” are gaining popularity on YouTube.
A 24-year-old office worker surnamed Jang experienced an unexpected financial windfall after listening to these “money-making frequencies,” leading him to genuinely believe in their efficacy.
Jang has made a habit of listening to frequency videos whenever he encounters obstacles, finding solace in their calming effect.
“It’s a cost-free way to relax,” he remarked.
Comments left on these videos abound with stories of how these frequencies have helped individuals achieve their desires.
However, experts contend that such claims lack a factual basis.
“Excessive and prolonged use of earphones to listen to frequencies can potentially lead to hearing loss, depending on the frequency’s bandwidth,” said Kang Jae-heon, a professor of family medicine at Kangbuk Samsung Medical Center.
When it comes to enhancing concentration, experts suggest engaging in activities like solving puzzles or reading books. If improving interpersonal relationships is the goal, they advise individuals to interact directly with others.
“While frequencies may offer some form of self-suggestion, relying on these YouTube videos as a means to ‘train your brain’ may result in addiction,” said Choi Jin-young, a professor of clinical neuroscience at at Seoul National University.
