SEOUL, Dec. 16 (Korea Bizwire) – With an aviation-related certification agreement between Korea and Turkey, the Korean made KC-100 four-passenger jet is ready to take to the sky in Turkey.
On December 15, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that it signed an MOU with Turkey’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation on the mutual recognition of aviation-related certification.
The agreement came after the two countries confirmed the equality of each other’s aviation certification systems through a mutual assessment of the system. With the agreement, the two countries will no longer require safety or quality tests on airplanes and parts that have already been certified in either country.
Last October, Korea signed a similar agreement with the U.S., and Turkey follows the EU’s certification system, so it was known that the aviation certification systems of the two countries were similar. This is the first such agreement on aviation safety between Korea and Turkey.

It also hoped that the agreement would pave the way for the export of the KLA-100 two-seat passenger plane, which is currently under development.
An official at the ministry said, “We plan to expand cooperation with other countries that have large aviation markets by signing such agreements with China, India and Indonesia to increase Korea’s exports of aviation products.”
