SEOUL, Jan. 16 (Korea Bizwire) – The head of the country’s top baseball league was named the new president of the national professional sports association on Tuesday.

Chung Un-chan, commissioner of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), was appointed the second president of the Korea Professional Sports Association (KPSA).

The KPSA was formed in November 2015, and its member federations are the KBO, the K League (football), the Korean Basketball League, the Women’s Korean Basketball League, the Korean Volleyball Federation, the Korea Professional Golfers’ Association and the Korea Ladies Professional Golfers’ Association.

K League Commissioner Kwon Oh-gap was the KPSA’s inaugural president.

The KPSA was founded to help ensure more transparency across pro competitions and promote marketing activities among the leagues.

Chung, a former prime minister, took over as the KBO’s new chief at the start of January.
