SEOUL, Jun. 25 (Korea Bizwire) — K-pop girl group BLACKPINK has landed their latest song “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” on the U.K. Official Singles Chart of top 100 songs, becoming the first Korean girl band to do so.
The title track of the BLACKPINK EP “Square UP,” released on June 15, charted 78th on the single chart as of last Friday (U.K. time), the official measure of the popularity of singles in the British record industry.
“Congratulations! BLACKPINK become the first K-pop girl group to enter the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart,” the Official Charts said in its SNS account.
Previously, two K-pop male acts — rapper Psy and septet BTS — had their songs listed in the U.K. chart.
The BLACKPINK song, released after a one-year hiatus following the quartet’s last single in 2017, took South Korean music charts by storm briefly after the release.
It also topped the iTunes album charts in 44 countries and achieved the weekly top place on Japan’s Oricon Digital Album Chart.
