ULLEUNG, Feb. 19 (Korea Bizwire) — The remote Ulleung Island, 120 kilometers off the east coast of South Korea, turned white as a blanket of snow stacked up as high as 1 meter from Sunday to Tuesday.
Ulleung County in North Gyeongsang Province and other local agencies made use of snowplows and excavators to clean up the snow.
Numerous fishing boats were seen at the island’s harbors as they decided not to set sail.
Passenger boats sailing between the mainland and Ulleung Island were cancelled for three consecutive days due to worsening weather.
“It is not uncommon for us to see snow come for days. We can manage,” said a local resident.
