SEOUL, Feb.16 (Korea Bizwire)Encored Technologies, a Korean tech startup, has announced the launch of an electric energy management service called ‘Enertalk Home’.

Due to progressive electricity rates in Korea, people dread turning on their air conditioners or electric heaters in fear of receiving an unpleasant surprise at the end of the month when they receive their electricity bills.

Recently, a comedian confessed on a talk show that he paid 800,000 won in electricity costs after using electric heaters and other electric appliances to keep warm during the winter, a revelation that stunned the audience.

To keep track of electricity usage, Enertalk Home provides information on electricity usage, standby power, and the current ‘bracket’ in the progressive rate system through a smartphone application. The app is linked to a measurement device that’s installed in a user’s electrical panel.

The system gathers data every second and updates the app in real time, which allows users to prevent ‘electricity cost bombing’ by checking precise electricity usage and estimated costs.

An ‘Electricity Eating Hippo’ service giving users on information about energy consumption for different appliances or devices will be provided in the near future.

Further information on the device can be found at Encored’s homepage (http://encoredtech.com).
