SEOUL, Apr. 15 (Korea Bizwire)CJ Korea Express, a parcel shipping company, announced that it would use 64,000 senior community centers around the country as logistics centers and employ senior citizens as parcel delivery workers.

CJ Korea Express, the Korea Senior Citizens Association, the Korea Integrated Logistics Association and Saenuri Party member Yi Wan-Young’s Committee joined forces to raise the employment rate among senior citizens, naming the business ‘Silver Delivery.’

To relieve physical burdens associated with carrying heavy items, CJ Korea Express will be introducing electric carts for employees to use when they deliver parcels from the centers, which are usually located inside apartment complexes and around residential areas in Korea.

Starting from a delivery service established at a Seoul apartment complex in October 2014, CJ Korea Express already operates 60 new logistics centers around the country, where a total of 470 senior citizens are currently employed. The company is hoping to increase the total number of seniors employed to more than 1,000 by the end of the year.
