SEOUL, Korea, Dec 04 (Korea Bizwire) – CJ Korea Express will open a new era of “Smart Trucks” by installing tablet computers in all its delivery trucks. Korea’s largest cargo delivery company said on December 2 that it would introduce a new scheme “Smart Integrated Logistics System” combining tablet computer and digital tachograph.
Under this scheme, CJ Korea Express trucks will be equipped with a smart device that exchanges data with the control center. Through the data link, the control center can find out the truck’s status, including its location, fuel consumption, speed, and cargo condition in real time. In addition, the control center staff can keep track of safety records of the trucks. In addition, the truckers can reduce fuel consumption by finding optimal routes between the present drop-off point to the next.
CJ Korea Express will install 300 smart devices on an experimental basis, followed by the remaining 900 by next year. The company said the initiative was part of the program to put in place a global integrated logistic system and it has developed in-house an integrated transportation management application (ITMA) for the purpose.
