SEOUL, June 29 (Korea Bizwire) — The emergence of so-called ‘untact’ culture that came with the spread of the coronavirus is having an impact on consumption trends.
South Korean logistics giant CJ Logistics Corp. studied data from parcel deliveries in March and April of this year to discover that single-person vehicles gained massive popularity as people became less inclined to engage in physical contact.
Deliveries of electric scooters, for instance, jumped by 120 percent compared to the same period last year. Bicycle equipment and electric unicycles also saw deliveries jump by 60 and 54 percent, respectively.
Mascara, eyebrow products, and other cosmetics for the eye saw deliveries jump by 103 percent.
Nail beauty products also surged by 45 percent, most likely driven by the recent make-up trend that focuses on the eyes and nails since wearing a protection mask outside has become a social norm.
As more people are working from home, demand for comfortable clothes is also on the rise. Deliveries of indoor clothes/pajamas and training wear jumped by 130 and 87 percent, respectively.
