SEOUL, Feb. 28 (Korea Bizwire) — Online traffic for Netflix Inc., the global entertainment service provider, jumped in the last few days as more people are staying indoors to fend off the coronavirus.
Global Big Data Research, a South Korean big data analysis agency, studied the amount of online traffic of seven over-the-top (OTT) platforms including Netflix and Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) providers, which revealed that Netflix’s online traffic was double the other six television platforms combined, grabbing onto at least two-thirds of the total ‘interest’ among consumers.
Netflix’s daily traffic jumped after confirmed coronavirus infections began to exceed 200 cases each day.
Experts argue that more people are staying indoors to avoid the coronavirus, watching Netflix to pass the time.
