SEOUL, May 26 (Korea Bizwire) – E-commerce giant Coupang said Monday it has transitioned from a co-representative leadership system to a sole representative system under Park Dae-joon as part of efforts to drive growth through artificial intelligence (AI)-based logistics innovation.
The company, wholly owned by New York-listed Coupang Inc., had been led by two representative directors, Park and Kang Han-seung.
Park has spearheaded the nationwide expansion of Coupang’s renowned Rocket Delivery service and led the development of new growth businesses, including streaming platform Coupang Play and food delivery service Coupang Eats, the company said in a press release.
With the leadership change, Coupang aims to further enhance its AI-driven logistics services and enable more small businesses to sell their products through its platform, it said.
Park has also assumed the role of chairman of the board.
Kang will move to Coupang Inc. to lead the development of business opportunities in North America and support the company’s overseas operations, the company said.
Coupang Inc. said it will further focus on expanding its Rocket Delivery service in Taiwan and its luxury e-commerce platform Farfetch.
Last year, Coupang acquired British online luxury fashion retailer Farfetch Holdings in a deal that gave the firm a leading position in the US$400 billion global personal luxury goods market.
