SEOUL, April 24 (Korea Bizwire) — Drones with artificial intelligence (AI) video analysis technology will be deployed starting next year to fly over cultural heritage sites for monitoring and investigation.
The Cultural Heritage Administration (CHA) announced Thursday that it will draw up plans for video analysis drones to be used for safety management of cultural sites by the end of this year.
The drones will be used to monitor cultural sites that are normally difficult to access, as well as during natural disasters to check for damages.
The CHA plans to acquire additional technological capabilities to send out notifications in case of abnormalities, develop drone stations for automatic recharging, and enable real-time video transmission to support the drones’ autonomous patrol and video analysis capabilities.
