DAEJEON, Jan. 4 (Korea Bizwire) — The Daejeon Topless Marathon, held every year on Jan. 1 at 11:11 a.m. since 2016, has been replaced with a run-alone ceremony this year.
Chairman Cho Woong-rae from the Mackiss Company Ltd., the host organization of the marathon, ran topless for 12 kilometers alongside Daejeon’s Gapcheon Stream on Jan. 1.
The decision comes as an alternative means to celebrate the new year with local residents and the management staff after a series of marathons have been cancelled following the coronavirus outbreak.
Topless with a painted slogan that said ‘body is the answer,’ Cho said the company “was able to pull through a recent crisis that led to a 30 percent sales plunge thanks to the trusting locals.”
