SEOUL, March 23 (Korea Bizwire) — Miniature-sized model cars, popular during the 1990s and early 2000s, are seeing a surge in interest thanks to the so-called “newtro” movement.
Lotte Department Store’s Nowon branch in Seoul renovated a boutique for Japanese brand Tamiya, a popular model car and plastic model maker, on Friday.
The department store built a circuit track where visitors can assemble model cars and use them in a live competition.
The department store also offers science programs for children where they can assemble various models using scientific knowledge.
These programs are staffed with professionals, who explain the basics of assembling scientific models and model cars to visitors.
