INCHEON, Dec.8 (Korea Bizwire) – The Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corporation has temporarily allowed the disposal of fallen leaves gathered in the metropolitan area until the end of February 2016.
To meet the demands of local governments, the landfill site will take in 2,765 tons of fallen leaves from Seoul, 1,100 tons from Gyeonggi Province, and 50 tons from Incheon.
The landfill site accepted fallen leaves for free since 2012 to make compost for trees, but starting this year, a fee of 43,404 won per ton will be imposed. A total sum of 169 million won is expected to be collected as fees.
The Landfill Site Management Corporation will guide the local governments to use some of the leaves as compost, and only take in the discarded leaves that are mixed with dirt in the streets.
