SEOUL, South Korea, Sept 25 (Korea Bizwire) – What is ‘Energy Consulting?’ It is a consulting service recently launched by the Seoul City government and Korea Telecom to help apartment residents reduce their electric bills. Teams of consultants visit apartments on demand and conduct technical, structural and administrative analysis on actual conditions of energy use in the buildings. The Energy Consulting service, for the past two months since the kickoff, has helped cut 10 percent of electric charges for apartment residents who asked for the consulting service.
KT made a full use of LED lights as a way to save electricity use. The consultants installed LED lightings at basement parking lots and staircases of one apartment in the north of Seoul. By replacing fluorescent lamps with 1,450 LED lamps at the cost of 140 million won (US$130,000), now the residents pay only 18 percent of the past month’s electric bill for common use.
The consultants also offered structural and administrative energy efficiency solutions. Choosing the most appropriate system for certain types of apartments can be just as effective as technical solutions for energy saving. The Energy Consulting service has gained interest from apartment residents in Seoul. With promising results so far, the Seoul City government is planning to expand the program until 2014.
