SEOUL, June 30 (Korea Bizwire) — Which summer vacation spot was the most popular over the past three years?
T Map Mobility Co. analysed destination data from its navigation service T Map for the period from the last week of July to the second week of August from 2019 to 2021.
The analysis showed that Eulwangri Beach on Yeongjong Island off the coast of Incheon was the most popular summer vacation spot with 116,500 cases.
Following Eulwangri Beach were Daecheon Beach in the western city of Boryeong, South Chungcheong Provinceh with 115,891 and Gyeongpo Beach in Gangneung, Gangwon Province with 114,219.
Theme parks also attracted a large number of summer vacationers, including Vivaldi Park Ocean World, a themed water park in Hongcheon County, Gangwon Province, with 69,375 cases, Everland amusement park in Yongin with 57,738 cases and Lotte World amusement park in Jamsil, east of Seoul with 56,068 cases.
Water parks, however, showed a big difference in the number of destinations set before and after COVID-19 pandemic.
In the summer of 2019, the year before COVID-19 pandemic, the number of destinations set for Vivaldi Park Ocean World and water park Caribbean Bay stood at 40,963 and 20,501 cases, respectively, but declined sharply to 14,105 and 6,269 cases last year.
