YONGIN, May 14 (Korea Bizwire) – Everland, South Korea’s largest theme park, will host its annual Rose Festival from May 17 to June 16, showcasing over 3 million roses of 720 varieties in full bloom across its expansive rose gardens.
The festival, which began in 1985 as the nation’s first flower celebration, has inspired over 70 similar events across the country. This year’s edition will unveil the “Everrose Collection Zone” highlighting domestically developed rose cultivars, complemented by audio docent tours, photo spots and a bubble experience.
The Rose Gardens at the heart of the festival comprise four themed sections – Victoria, Venus, Cupid and Maze – together housing roses from around the world like Port Sunlight from Britain, New Dawn from the U.S. and Peace from France.
A new highlight is the Everrose Collection Zone within the Victoria Garden, showcasing all 30 varieties that Everland has commercially bred since launching its rose development program in 2013. Among them is the award-winning Perfume Everscape, lauded for its strong fragrance and vibrant petals at an international rose contest where it took the gold medal and top honors across four categories.
The zone will feature themed photo areas and storytelling signage tailored to each rose’s concept, like wedding, family and carnival, while also previewing soon-to-be-registered new crossbreeds.
Visitors can enhance their stroll by accessing an audio docent tour via the park’s mobile app or on-site QR codes. The narration is provided by Lee Joon-kyu, head of Everland’s Plant Content Group with a doctorate in landscape architecture, who is known for his popular YouTube videos.
Lee shares intriguing background on the gardens’ history and the origins of the Everrose varieties, among other insights.
Numerous Instagram-worthy selfie spots also await, from oversize teacup planters and flower carts filled with pink roses to hanging baskets suspending blooms midair and romantic rose tunnels.
Another draw is the “Bubble Exhibition” created in partnership with Amore Pacific’s HappyBath brand. Visitors can immerse themselves in a dome filled with bubbles infused with the brand’s signature fragrances alongside giveaway events.
Starting in late May, Everland also plans to introduce a Garden Pass providing access to not just the Rose Gardens but other horticultural attractions like the Four Seasons Garden and Music Garden.
