SEOUL, April 27 (Korea Bizwire) – Key artificial intelligence (AI) technologies will be commercialized within the next decade mainly in the health, mobile payment, green energy and social learning sectors, a government panel here said Wednesday.

AI-based services are expected to be born in earnest around in 2020 to offer cheaper health, legal and financial counseling, according to the Future Preparatory Committee at the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning.

“Those services will be commercialized around 2025. And tailored remote medical services will be introduced in 2022,” it said.

Based on the survey of 932 experts, it issued a 159-page report on promising industries that can help South Korea weather the challenges in the so-called New Normal era of chronic low economic growth.

The committee pointed out that South Korea is facing low-fertility and super-aging society, coupled with social inequality and job insecurity.

A related analysis revealed “such keywords as well-being and leisure to be central when it comes to the issue of emphasis on quality of life,” it said.

On the list of promising tech services are tailored personal health care, mobile finance, unmanned delivery, IoT-based disaster response, electricity recharging, green energy platform, wearable energy device and social learning.
