CHUNCHEON, Aug. 21 (Korea Bizwire)Gangwon Province will offer programs of appreciation for firefighters who fought the catastrophic fire on the East Coast in April.

Gangwon Agricultural Research and Extension Services (GWARES) will invite 7,000 firefighters across the country who fought the East Coast fire and 140 agricultural experts who helped out at damaged farms.

GWARES will offer special meals at Hongcheon Trout Village, forest trekking, meditation with traditional lanterns, and other agricultural programs between September and October.

The Trout Village, jointly with the Citizen’s Design Team, Rural Development Administration, National Fire Agency, and Public Procurement Service, developed the program to soothe the firefighters.

Firefighters entered the program with an average stress score of 20.4 points, which qualifies as potential stress patients.

After the program, however, the average dropped to 8.4, showing that their stress levels had been restored back to normal.
