SEOUL, May 23 (Korea Bizwire) – G-Market, an open Internet shopping site, introduced an event called “Genius Game with GD” to promote its G-Market smartphone app with the leader of boy group Big Bang’s G-Dragon.
After hitting xylophone notes several times, G-Dragon asks viewers “What was the last note I hit?” Anyone who knows the last note can shout “Answer!” after turning on the G-Market app.
G-Market, the largest online shopping site operator in Korea, tightens its No. 1 grip on the market through various events where anyone can join in and communicate together. Now it is offering new types of events integrating marketing and IT technology.
Last month, it held a rare event making use of the voice recognition feature of smartphones commemorating EXO’s first concert. In the event, the company offered various gifts including concert tickets to participants who accessed its mobile app and pronounced the title of EXO’s hit song “Growl.” It was a new concept marketing utilizing the voice recognition function rather than clicks or touches of the app.
Prior to it, the company had offered in March a super-deal selling date tickets with G-Dragon and actress Lee Youn-hee at the price of 100 won (10 U.S. cents), which ended with explosive popularity.
