SEOUL, April 6 (Korea Bizwire) — The government has designated the hydrogen sector as a national core technology, while adding two fuel cell technologies to the list of national core technologies.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said Wednesday it will revise and promulgate the Ordinance on Designation of National Core Technologies.
Thus far, hydrogen technologies designated as national core technologies have been limited to the automobile industry. However, the ministry has now added the hydrogen sector to the existing 12 sectors.
It also newly designated fixed-type fuel cell design, manufacturing, diagnosis, and control technologies as fuel cell-related technologies.
Moreover, it added electric powertrain systems (motor and inverter) and air-conditioning systems as national core technologies in the category of hybrid power-based automobile system design and production.
For these systems, domestic companies have the same level of technology as their foreign rivals, thus being assessed as technologies requiring urgent protection measures.
