SEOUL, Oct. 24 (Korea Bizwire) — The government has developed for the first time a smart irrigation system that identifies the bio-response of local crops and supplies water through artificial intelligence (AI).
Created by the Rural Development Administration (RDA), the new smart irrigation system diagnoses the bio-response of crops according to weather changes with imaging technology to determine when to supply water.
By analyzing data collected, stored, and processed in real time through AI, the quantity of water that the crops need is also calculated.
For example, when growing peaches and apples using the irrigation system, the weight of the fruits increased by 14 to 26 percent and sugar content by 8 percent, the RDA explained.
