SEOUL, May 18 (Korea Bizwire) — Seoul’s Hangang (Han River) Project Headquarters said Monday that it will plant 70,000 trees in the parks along the Han River this year.
Since 2015, the city has planted some 1,080,000 trees in Han River parks.
This year, the headquarters will plant 15,000 trees in Jamwon Hangang Park near the southern end of the Seongsu Bridge and the Ecological Education Center, as well as another 15,000 trees in Ichon Hangang Park near the Dongjak Bridge and Seobinggo Playground by July.
Another 35,000 trees will be planted around playgrounds and exercise facilities in Han River parks, as well as an additional 5,000 trees donated by private entities and civic groups.
This year, the headquarters will focus on planting red pines and bald cypress that are effective against fine dust, as well as willow trees and other plants recommended for river areas.
