SEOUL, Dec. 18 (Korea Bizwire) – The city of Seoul has unveiled plans for the “Han River Winter Festa,” a comprehensive winter festival taking place along the Han River from December 22 to February 12.
The festivities kick off with the “Romantic Han River Christmas Market” at Ttukseom Han River Park from December 22 to 31. The market, beginning with a celebratory performance by the Navy Band at 6 p.m. on the opening day, will feature a Christmas-themed photo zone, “Merry Village,” and “Merry Market,” where visitors can purchase Christmas candles, music boxes, and accessories. A “Food Lounge” will also be available, offering a variety of winter snacks.
An eye-catching feature is the “Snow Dome” photo zone, where visitors can capture memories against the scenic backdrop of the Han River. The setup includes five 2-meter-tall transparent domes, adorned with Christmas trees and other festive decorations, providing a unique photo opportunity.
Simultaneously, “Warm Han River in Winter” themed events will occur at Gwangnaru, Nanji, Yeouido, and Gangseo Han River Parks. On select days, a special “Han River Music Fireworks Cruise” will allow participants to enjoy stunning night views of the Han River, complete with a fireworks display.
Sledding sites at Ttukseom, Jamwon, and Yeouido Han River Parks will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours during the Christmas Market at Ttukseom Han River Park. In addition to sledding, visitors can enjoy activities like ice fishing and traditional Korean sugar candy making. Amusement rides and snack bars will also be available.
The city has also made special arrangements for individuals with physical and developmental disabilities, including a dedicated sledding site lift and wheelchair-accessible ramps. A special exclusive event for persons with disabilities will precede the official opening of the sledding site.
Moreover, from December 22 to January 31, the Mangwon Han River Park’s Seoul Battleship Park Visitor Center will host the “Train Station Platform Exhibition” with the theme “Train Ride to Seoul Battleship Park Christmas Journey.” This exhibition will immerse visitors in a magical Christmas setting, complete with a large Christmas tree and a variety of themed displays.
