SEOUL, Aug. 15 (Korea Bizwire)Hanwha Engineering & Construction holds its place as an environmentally friendly construction company with its “Green Certification” in both areas of the construction environment and the water treatment program.

On August 13, Hanwha E&C announced that its indoor lighting system using natural sunlight, the super-insulated window system and membrane bioreactor water treatment technology were certified as green technologies.

The company’s sunlight technology, or “multi-parabolic sunlight system,” was applied to one of Hanwha resort buildings in Haeundae, Busan. The technology utilizes optical lenses and fibers to transform sunlight into lighting in the building, which is highly eco-friendly. In addition, it is highly energy efficient, saving 36.6 percent of total energy use.

The company also won a certification of green technology with its super-insulated window system in July. The window is renowned for better insulation. The system was applied to one of apartment buildings constructed by Hanwha E&C, saving 30-40 percent of total heating and cooling energy use.

Furthermore, the company has an eco-friendly water treatment system, or DF-MBR, generating 50 percent less sludge and eliminating 99 percent of colon bacillus from sludge. Commissioned by the Ministry of Environment, the system was applied to and has been operated in five water treatment plants.

Hanwha E&C is planning to continue to pursue its green goals based on the accumulated technologies and improve its competitiveness as an eco-friendly company by creating more green areas in Korea.
