SEOUL, Dec. 25 (Korea Bizwire) — Despite economic challenges and political turmoil, the holiday spirit made a vibrant return to Seoul this Christmas season.
Celebratory events across the city have drawn citizens and tourists alike, offering a much-needed reprieve and festive cheer.
One of the highlights is the iconic Seoul Plaza Ice Skating Rink, which reopened on December 20. Despite freezing temperatures—dropping to -3°C in the morning and hovering around 3°C during the day—the rink was bustling with activity.
Families, children, and international visitors filled the space, creating a lively and heartwarming scene.
Parents captured moments of their children learning to skate, while visitors enjoyed the wintry charm of downtown Seoul.
The rink operates Sunday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and until 11 p.m. on Saturdays and public holidays. Entry is affordable at 1,000 won, which includes skate rentals, helmets, and safety gear.
The rink will remain open through February 9, 2025. Beyond skating, Seoul is hosting the 2024 Seoul Winter Festa, featuring light displays, Santa Village experiences, and pop-up markets in popular locations such as Gwanghwamun and Cheonggyecheon.
These events have brought vitality back to the city, proving that even in challenging times, the holiday season remains a unifying and joyous occasion.
