CHUNCHEON, May 6 (Korea Bizwire)As part of the city’s public art project, Chuncheon, the capital of Gangwon Province, set up a wall painting inside a tunnel walkway located in the heart of the city.

The city embarked on a wall painting project inside a tunnel across Toegyecheon-gil to offer work opportunities to local artists and hold exhibitions for the public.

Previously, the dark, grey tunnel made of concrete was disliked by local residents, until the city invested 400 million won (US$355,000) to renovate it into an art exhibition platform.

As the art project is nearing its completion, the once dark and hollow tunnel has now become a stage for some 37 artists and their artwork, stretching across the entire tunnel, which has been divided into 10 sections.
