Hybrid Trend Extends Its Reach to Lipstick Market

SEOUL, June 19 (Korea Bizwire)Hybrid lip products such as lip mousse and lip locker are gaining much popularity among Korean women as their market share escalates steeply. A hybrid lip product is a product that combines different types of lip products into one, such as lipstick and lip gloss, and lip tint and lip balm.

According to Kantar World Panel, a market research company, the market share of hybrid lip products in the overall cosmetics market has taken a huge leap from 1.7 percent of last year to 9.5 percent this year.

Such a trend drives major beauty products companies to competitively launch hybrid lip products one after another. Lancome has recently put out “Lip Lover,” a product which fused glittering of lip gloss and vividness of lip tint.

As for Korean companies, LG Household & Health Care has launched VDL’s “Expert Color Lip Stain” last month. Prior to this, Korea’s beauty product maker has already been aggressively taking part in the competition by putting out The FaceShop‘s “Face-it Lesson Artist Finger Gloss,” Ohui’s “Real Color Rouge Tint” and Vov’s “20′s Factory Enamel Lip Locker” one after another last year.

Following the launch of “Tinted Liquid Rouge,” a liquid-type lipstick added with features of lip tints, in its Iope brand in May of last year, AmorePacific also added one more in their line of hybrid lip products, “Creamy Tint Lip Mousse” in its Innisfree brand which enhanced vividness of the lipstick this year.

The forefront hybrid lip products such as “Lip Maestro” of Giorgio Armani and “Vernis À Lèvres” of Yves Saint Laurent have been steady-sellers in the market.
