SEOUL, Aug. 19 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Department Store Co. said Tuesday it will open its first retail outlet in Japan next month as part of its global expansion strategy to promote Korean brands.
The Hyundai Global retail store will be located in the Shibuya Parco shopping mall in Tokyo, with plans to rotate featured K-brand products every one to two months, the company said in a press release.
“We plan to introduce Korean products, mostly manufactured by small and medium-sized companies, to local customers. The first brand will be Treemingbird, which gained popularity after Korean idol singers were seen wearing it,” a company spokesperson said.
The company aims to open four additional retail outlets in Japan over the next five years and expand its offline operations to Taiwan and Hong Kong.
The move is part of Hyundai Department Store’s efforts to secure new growth drivers in overseas markets amid a saturated and sluggish domestic retail environment.
