SEOUL, Nov. 13 (Korea Bizwire) — The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning said on November 12 that it would kick off a new committee on the next day called the “X Project Promotion Committee” which will tackle daring and highly creative research issues. The committee will come up with research topics from experts from diverse fields instead of the current top-down instruction from above.
The committee will consist of 12 members to be selected from science and non-science fields including eight from corporate, media, and humanities areas. The ministry expected that the new scheme would produce a lot of innovative ideas.
An ICT ministry official said, “Through the X Project, we hope an ‘X mindset’ can spread in the science and technology community so that they can challenge the established paradigm and suggest out-of-the-box ideas. Hopefully, this kind of attitude can be commonplace in the whole society.”
