SEOUL, April 13 (Korea Bizwire) — Many people are experiencing weight gains as they spend more time indoors to stay away from coronavirus infections.
If your pets seem to have gained weight recently, you should check your own weight as well, as experts argue that both pets and their guardians should work together to lose weight.
Pets tend to follow the look of their master based on their personalities or characters. Even if pets are born slim, they will gain weight if they are overfed and not taken out for exercise.
A research team at the University of Copenhagen claimed that pets are not only sensitive towards their master’s feelings, but also adherent to their master’s behavior and livelihood.
In other words, if a guardian normally practices bad habits that may trigger obesity, the pet is likely to follow suit.
In such cases, corrective measures are called for.
First, guardians should eat high-calorie food less often, replacing it with unseasoned, boiled or grilled chicken breast and other similar meals that are good for both guardians and their pets.
They offer an ample amount of protein that helps sustain the muscles.
Going on a walk with your pet increases the ‘sustainability’ of exercise for both guardians and their pets. Since daily walks are essential for your pet’s health, they can serve as an opportunity to get regular exercise.
“A walk with your pet is as good as burning calories by going on a walk yourself,” a medical expert said.
“Since guardians have to put up with their pet’s walking patterns, walking your pet may actually end up helping you to burn more calories than going on a walk by yourself.”
