CHANGWON, April 13 (Korea Bizwire) — The Gyeongsangnamdo Office of Education has announced the creation of a new school which combines reading and camping, with the goal of opening in September.
The Gyeongnam Reading School, which will be established on the site of a closed school in Hapcheon County, South Gyeongsang Province, will use the playground as a camping site with 10 huts and 10 decks for tents.
The closed school building will be renovated into a library.
Local authorities plan to provide reading camps to encourage a family reading culture. They also plan to run reading programs linked to school curricula and present reading experiences combined with the natural environment.
Furthermore, authorities will create exhibition spaces and workshops on the theme of publishing and movable type, as the Tripitaka Koreana is housed in the nearby Haeinsa Temple.
