SEOUL, May 31 (Korea Bizwire) — Korean Air announced Friday the release of its first upcycled merchandise using parts from a retired Airbus A380 aircraft, marking a new phase in the airline’s sustainability-driven product line.

The carrier introduced two limited-edition items — name tags and golf ball markers — crafted from the fuselage of aircraft HL7612, which first entered service in July 2011 and logged over 41,898 flight hours before being decommissioned and dismantled in August 2024.

Available through Korean Air’s official brand goods platform, e-Skystore, the new items highlight the unique features of the double-deck A380, once dubbed the “hotel in the sky.” The name tags come in two designs: the aircraft-shaped “Flight” version and a minimalist “Window” version. Both bear engravings referencing the A380’s iconic nickname.

The golf ball marker set includes two designs — one featuring the airline’s Taeguk symbol and another resembling a runway. Each marker is magnetized on the back for easy attachment and removal.

This release is also the first to incorporate Korean Air’s newly redesigned Taeguk emblem, unveiled in March 2025. Due to the limited reusable surface area of the A380’s fuselage, only 2,500 name tags and 500 marker sets have been produced.

The initiative marks Korean Air’s sixth upcycling campaign, following similar projects using decommissioned Boeing 777 aircraft.
