SEOUL, Dec. 29 (Korea Bizwire)Korean Air Lines Co., South Korea’s national flag carrier, said Tuesday that it was introducing an e-Document System (e-DOC) to digitalize various documents that customers have to fill in for themselves, a first among global airlines.

Passengers flying on Korean Air will be able to fill in 23 different kinds of documents, including pet transportation declaration forms, unaccompanied children transportation application forms and the health state declaration forms through digital devices such as smartphones and tablet PCs.

The booking information is automatically reflected in the system, thereby reducing paperwork for customers. The contact information and email address recorded in the e-DOC are automatically updated in the carrier’s SKYPASS mileage program.

The documents that customers fill in through digital devices are saved on a secure server. At branches in and outside Korea, customers can browse the document information saved online through dedicated devices in real time.

Korean Air stressed that the new service will contribute not only to improving the speed of customer service but also to reducing customer wait time and to strengthening the protection of personal information through automatic document storage and destruction.
