SEOUL, Oct. 8 (Korea Bizwire) — Korean Air Lines Co. announced Wednesday that it will secure additional cool cargo centers at Incheon International Airport next year to ensure safe shipping of coronavirus vaccines.
The country’s top flag carrier currently owns a 1,292 square meter refrigerated warehouse at Incheon International Airport, that is capable of storing up to 100 tons of cargo that requires temperature control.
The company has also set up a special task force dedicated to the transport of COVID-19 vaccines to prepare for upcoming vaccine shipping.
Korean Air explained that prior experience in shipping pharmaceuticals and fresh food will ensure safe transport of the vaccines.
Last year, for instance, as much as 10 percent of Korean Air’s annual shipping consisted of pharmaceuticals and fresh food.
The airline shipped 500,000 coronavirus test kits to the U.S. state of Maryland last April, stepping up to tackle the coronavirus through rigorous medical shipping.
